Websites

A website could be the work of an individual, a business or other organization, and is typically dedicated to some particular topic or purpose. Any website can contain a hyperlink to any other website, so the distinction between individual sites, as perceived by the user, may sometimes be blurred.
Websites are written in, or dynamically converted to, HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and are accessed using a software interface classified as a user agent. Web pages can be viewed or otherwise accessed from a range of computer-based and Internet-enabled devices of various sizes, including desktop computers, laptops, PDAs and cell phones.
A website is hosted on a computer system known as a web server, also called an HTTP server, and these terms can also refer to the software that runs on these systems and that retrieves and delivers the web pages in response to requests from the website users. Apache is the most commonly used web server software  and Microsoft's Internet Information Server is also commonly used.

Integration

Good Day:

Have you noticed how much websites have started integrating new apps. All the apps are being added to their sites to help the users navigate the sites fluently. Have you heard of the 'Poke'? Well, the poke is an app used to get your friends attention. If your friend has already logged on to their email accounts, Poke lets you ping to let them know you are online. But if the person is not online the poke simply waits until that person logs on, then relays the message. This app can be compared to 'Instant Messaging'. Instant Messaging will also hold a message until the recipient logs onto their email account. Note, that you must keep your status current. Why? Because status allows users to inform their friend of their whereabout or situation. For example, if I am busy doing homework, I will simply click 'Busy' as my status. This notification lets all my friends know that I am busy.

Good News: As of February 23, 2010, Facebook gained a U.S. patent on certain aspects of their news feeds. The patent prohibits users and hackers from  manipulating feeds to gain attraction to their websites.
To add, Facebook users can now add up to 200 photos to their albums. Awesome!
